Difficult Spring

This cold and snowy spring weather has been hard on the wildlife.

American Wigeon

An American Wigeon on a migration stop in the Dunkirk, New York Harbor on Lake Erie as he makes his way north.  Wigeons spend the winter in places as far south as Venezuela and Columbia.  It would be fun if he could tell us where he's been.

Hundreds of them!  Mostly European Starlings but quite a few Common Grackle and Red-winged Blackbirds too.  (It was snowing heavily when I took these shots.)

Killdeer on the First Day of Spring

Spotted four Killdeer on the lawn in a cemetery today.  They are the first I've seen this year.
