Chilly Hummer
This poor girl doesn't look like she's enjoying the cold snap we're having. With temps in the 30's and a freeze warning, she may have to resort to torpor tonight. It seems to happen every year after they get here, but Mother Nature gave her the mechanisms she needs to cope and survive.

Surprise!
It was mostly cloudy all day long but a wonderful sunset appeared in our back yard at the very end of the day.
Pine Siskin
We've had quite a few Pine Siskin at the feeders over the last few days. There appears to be a flock with at least 12 of them today.
Busy Goldfinch
Actually this seems a bit odd. Goldfinch don't usually build their nests until late June and into July around here. This guy is wasting no time in getting it done now.

Bobolink
This amazing songbird spends its winters in South America, well south of the equator. It normally travels at least 6,000 miles one way during migration. This guy may have come from as far away as Argentina!

Rose-breasted Grosbeak
At least nine different Rose-breasted Grosbeaks were at the feeders in our yard today (five were male and four female).
