An American Wigeon on a migration stop in the Dunkirk, New York Harbor on Lake Erie as he makes his way north. Wigeons spend the winter in places as far south as Venezuela and Columbia. It would be fun if he could tell us where he's been.
Again, not the best photo, just like last year's attempts at photographing them. They are so timid and I had to use the super zoom on my camera which destroys the quality of the photo. However, they are so darn beautiful that I wanted to include them here on my blog.
Hundreds of them! Mostly European Starlings but quite a few Common Grackle and Red-winged Blackbirds too. (It was snowing heavily when I took these shots.)
